Combating neglect using the principles of attachment theory.

Combating neglect using the principles of attachment theory.
Summary: Discusses attachment theory in relation to child neglect. Suggests that attachment difficulties could be the cause of parental neglect and that observations into parent-child relationships could help gather critical information to prevent neglect and support parents. Argues that social workers require more in depth knowledge of attachment theory so that it can be used to inform them of the types of parenting styles and patterns of family functioning within families in which chronic neglect is prevalent.
