The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has published their annual report. Findings for 2011 include: a total of 12,966 URLs were found to contain child sexual abuse, hosted on 1,595 domains worldwide; 74% of the child victims appeared to be 10 years old or under; and 65% of the victims were girls.

BBC figures released by the Forced Marriage Unit

The BBC reports on new figures released by the Forced Marriage Unit as part of the public consultation into criminalising forced marriage in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Findings include: 400 children received assistance from the government’s Forced Marriage Unit in the last year, the youngest of whom was five years old.

Annual report of Office of the Head of International Family Justice for England and Wales

The Office of the Head of International Family Justice for England and Wales has published their annual report. Findings include: there has been a significant rise in the number of cases referred to the Office, from 27 cases in 2007 to 180 in 2011, with more cases (42%) concerning Europe than any other continent.

The Home Office has released figures from the first year of the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme

The Home Office has released figures from the first year of the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme. Findings, which all relate to England and Wales, include: over the last year the police have received more than 1,600 enquiries, over 900 formal applications, and at least 160 disclosures relating to child sex offences have been made.

NSPCC has released new data about the number of child sexual abuse offences reported to the police in England and Wales

The NSPCC has released new data about the number of child sexual abuse offences reported to the police in England and Wales. Findings from a freedom of information request sent to all 43 Police forces include: Police recorded over 23,000 sex offences against children aged under 18 years in England and Wales between April 2010 and March 2011; 14,819 of which were reported against 11-17-year-olds.
